Played at Tyseley Working Mens Club on Tuesday 10th March

9 teams of 4 players competed in 2 sections at the rate of 10 seconds per move. Olton borrowed a player from Central Birmingham and another from South Birmingham to cover an absentee. Based on grading, 5 teams played a single round in section A. South Birmingham A set out their stall early, with two 4-0 wins in the opening rounds. Only Olton A pegged them back in the last round with a drawn match. Warley Quinborne picked up in later rounds, but were too far behind.
South Birmingham A won with 13 points, Warley were second on 8.5. Two
players scored 4 out of 4, Luke Boynton on board 2 for Central
Birmingham and Adithya Vaidyanathan playing board 1 for South Birmingham
A.
The individual prize was awarded to Adithya having played on board 1.
Section B consisted of 4 teams from Olton and South Birmingham in a double round. Olton B and South Birmingham C both made early headway and were in a head to head battle. In the final pairing, the first games were drawn. Olton won 3-1 in the reverse fixture, but South Birmingham's better results in earlier games got them over the line by a point.
South Birmingham C won with 17 points. Olton B were second on 16 points.
Fawad Akbar guesting for Olton B scored 6 out of 6 and was awarded the Individual prize. Steve Edwards of South Birmingham C scored 5.5 points.
